We recently spent 4 days in Vegas and while I am NOT a Vegas pro, I did put some thought into planning out the trip and we really enjoyed ourselves (which you very much know all about it if you read this post).
Consider this a very mini guide to Vegas with a few tips thrown in to help you plan a trip to Vegas if you’re into it! We went on a no-kid trip to Vegas in mid-Nov and the temp was about 21C the whole time which made it very comfortable during the day, warm enough to lay out in the sun, but it did get chilly at night as the desert will. I’ll break it down day by day with a few notes at the end. I was DEFO in my mom flow on the trip (even though we ended up singing Lola to bed on FaceTime twice (once while in an Uber cruising the Strip, don’t ask). My best Vegas advice is to just take it for what it is: a sh!t show… but it can be fun, too. I also have an IG highlight you can peep.
Day one:
We got into Vegas around 1pm - my brother in law had rented a car so he picked us up at the airport. The Vegas airport is right off the strip making it a quick car ride. We opted to stay at BIL fiancé’s timeshare which was like a condo resort. It is called Club Wyndham and I don’t know if it’s somewhere you can book, but it was right off the strip. First stop was Shake Shack - we hadn’t tried it and were excited (so Canadian of us!). Loved it… yes, more than In-N-Out!
Then, we went to Trader Joe’s to grab some things (SNACKS, booze, bevvies) to make in the condo. Why can’t we have TJ’s in Canada? So depressing. I loved having use of a kitchen which I feel is essential for longer stays anywhere. I booked us dinner at Vanderpump à Paris - I mean how could I not. This is located in The Paris Hotel. The vibe is very over the top Moulin Rouge Paris and the menu is very French. The cocktails were so good, and the vibe was too. The food, mid. BUT, the excitement really was kicked up a notch when we saw Oliver (Garcelle’s son IYKYK) working and while I was soooo embarrassed, Roberto made me get a pic with him and he was adorably nice. OK, OK, I’ll drop the pic or it didn’t happen moment here.
After dinner we walked over to The Bellagio to see the fountain (FUN!) and check out the lobby - seemed a bit stuffy to me! Then it was home time.
Day two:
It was Saturday in Vegas and the day was here, the whole reason we came to Vegas was Kylie Minogue. This was a mom and dad trip so we leaned into not having much of a schedule aside from the dinner resos so it was such a nice relaxing time. We slept in a bit and went for a diner breakfast at Black Bear Diner (best Cobb Salad ever!). It’s an off-strip spot but we had a car so it was easy. Then we drove around to check out the Old Town Vegas strip including some of the wedding chapels (Britney’s!) and Golden Nugget. We then headed back to the condo and I had a huuuuge disco nap. I would very much need it - more on that in a sec. Roberto went for a blowout at Drybar. Finally, it was time to get ready for the show. I didn’t bring many things to wear and I ended up scrapping what I thought I would wear and even went with sporting my trusty runners which made standing allll night so much more doable. We got to The Venetian and the line up was brewing - no plans for dinner that night meant I ate a chicken burger standing in the line up. Not my finest moment but just needed to eat! The venue, Voltaire at The Venetian was sooo small and intimate, it was BEAUTIFUL (highly reco seeing a show there if you get a chance!) and the show itself… life changing.
The show ended around 1am and we were buzzing so hit up Juliet Cocktail Room in The Venetian for two rounds of really great cocktails. There was live music and I was in such a great mood I got up to dance (alone lol) and the singer had me walking an imaginary runway after a few seconds. It was FUN. We closed them down at 2am, went to Denny’s and headed to bed at 4am! Yup, that disco nap worked some magic. The night was just a one-of-a-kind dreamy Saturday night in Vegas!
Day three:
I was up by 8am (I know) and we grabbed a bite at the condo and headed down to the pool to just lay out. I ordered Uber Eats poolside. I didn’t actually book us anyplace for dinner, but I knew I wanted to go to The Cosmopolitan and see what looked good. This is a pretty flashy and fun hotel, lots of cool restaurants and shops.
We ended up grabbing a pre-dinner drink at The Chandelier Lounge and having dinner at Beauty and Essex which we enjoyed. It’s a fun vibe for sure. We were all obviously tired, so it was an earlier night.
Day four:
I woke up on day four to a DM from KYLIE EFFING MINOGUE. What is this life!!! I had tagged her in concert stories and did some stories about my experience that didn’t include a tag, and this is what she commented on. Life. made.
I woke up with a huge headache (things were finally catching up to me!) so stayed in bed working for most of the morning and then we popped out to the Strip just to check some things out. Didn’t do a lot of shopping, but I did want to go to Honolulu Cookie Co. (the best) and we ended up walking around the strip and stopping for lunch at Mon Ami Gabi which is one of my fave spots. It’s right across from the Bellagio fountain and the food is so good! Ubered back to the condo for a quick rest and dinner. We went to Aria Hotel and had dinner at CATCH which was VERY delish. I loved this spot and it’s a must IMHO. I was knackered and so it was right back home to bed for our 6am flight back home the next day!
A few things:
Vegas blocks are VERY long. Something that looks close by can end up being a 20 minute walk. We used Uber as much as possible getting to and from places, and then the rental car to get off the strip and to other spots.
I would have loved to stay at The Venetian bc it’s centrally located and seemed like a fun spot. I planned the trip so we got to hit up different hotels for dinner each night but couldn’t get into Delilah or Carbone. I wish!
Vegas is what you make of it, but it can be such a fun getaway for a show! We didn’t do any clubbing or anything. I would recommend going to each restaurant we visited!
I hope this helps you plan a Vegas trip - read this post to hear about why I think we all need to have MORE FUN!
xx, Erin
