Happy Friday, flow-ers! Here we are on another Friday - hitting your inbox a tad late bc, well, the juggle. I know you know.
P.S: don’t forget to listen to this like a podcast using the article voiceover feature at the top of this post (I read it to you with extra commentary!)
💜 Mom Flow event deets (and almost sold out?!)
Let’s jump right into the deets about the upcoming Mom Flow event in Vancouver! It is the very first, and I am so excited to see how many of you will be there. I put 50 tickets online at 39 have sold! Soooo we only have 11 tix left. I cannot tell you how pumped I am and how hard I am hustling to make the event special for you. I really want it to be a sampling of my faves you see me talk about on IG and here often…
So, what can you expect at the event?
The nibbles are going to be provided by some of my fave spots like Field & Social, Savoury City, Trattoria (ummm, we’re talking tableside Tiramisu!), wine from See Ya Later, sparkling water from Chateau
Hand massages from Dewy, bracelet making and mom-fessions (my fave part where we share and read anonymous confessions about motherhood!)
Gift bags which I’m defo not going to spoil, but I will tell you that in the mix, there will be one GOLDEN Mom Flow gift bag that has a serious stash of high ticket goodies… it will be hidden in the regular gift bags and I can promise you it’s a real treat!
Now, I’ve had a lot of questions about coming alone and if it would be awkward. I get it! But NO, it won’t be, because I would say 90% of the moms are coming alone and this will make for amazing new connections. Every mom coming wants to connect and meet likeminded moms. My community is truly special, and I know this for a fact!
Soooo, if you have been thinking about it, this is your push to take a night to yourself, skip bedtime routine, and have a night to pour into your cup. Hopefully this won’t be a one-off but I can say it’s been a lot of work planning it bc we aren’t cutting corners.
Excited for Nov 7 and to hopefully have you! Get your ticket.
💪🏽 Feeling the fear and doing it anyway
I mentioned a few weeks ago being on a panel with other business owners and that I was nervous. Well, what I didn’t say was how nervous I actually was. Putting yourself out there can be so hard and I always want to push myself out of my comfort zone because when you stop growing, well… you know. I was literally keeping myself up at night obsessing about it. I’d get a pit in my stomach thinking about it. As the say, public speaking is a phobia for mannnny and I guess I’m one of them?! I felt very intimidated and yes, had serious imposter syndrome. I honestly wanted to cancel. Being in front of a large group of women was sending me! I know how silly this sounds and it felt irrational. I spoke to the group about how important it was to work through fear and just freaking do it. I believe that - fear is such a crazy emotion that is hard to describe and pushing past it can feel impossible. I am so proud of myself for doing it, and it gave me such a confidence boost.
👀 Motherhood is a health crisis?
I cannot believe this: the US surgeon general just issued an advisory on the mental health of parents. What is happening?! Look, I will take it a step further and say that advisory defo applies to moms the absolute most. My take? Intensive parenting has gotten so out of hand that it’s causing destruction to moms. As defined: “Intensive parenting” is a tendency to invest parents' time, money, and energy in their child. This also includes some gender bias concerning a mother being the best person to primarily raise her children. Yup, this is the world we live in, the one where being a mom comes with an advisory! Look, I have not been quiet about how freaking hard it is to be a mom and also how wild social media has made it, how it’s made us feel never enough… how motherhood is so monetized and it’s not healthy. How 'experts’ are always in our ear telling us how to parent. I’ve said it before, but we need to tune it out and tune into our own gut and what we know is best for our kiddos. I mean, sure, seeking help with an acute issue we are way out our depth on? Healthy. Relying on these accounts who confuse us and overwhelm us with every parenting touchpoint? Questionable. This podcast was an incredible listen, and they even mentioned someone like Dr. Becky, and IMO in context of this whole topic, the sound byte made me cringe. I made me give my head a shake. Crazy admission, I have never been a fan (to each their own if you are! NO judgement, for real). I absolutely think we need to go back to basics here and realize that moms mental health is paramount to happy, healthy kids; this is your permission to look at this critically and pour into your cup. I want to enjoy being a mom and I want us to be able to talk about these things openly with each other.
🍗 High protein hacks
I have been working hard at keeping my anti inflammatory diet in check… that means lower carb/sugar/processed foods/oils. Like the fun stuff. But I’m finding joy in eating whole foods, high protein, high fiber and I always feel so much better for it. I want to eat at home as much as possible and I’ve been succeeding over the last few months. I thought it might be fun to share some of the things I’m reaching for and adding to my day.
Egg Bites (I have been buying them on the go at Starbucks but that’s wayyy to expensive on the reg so I’m making my own at home with eggs, cottage cheese and veggies!)
Ham and cheese around a pickle (I didn’t say it was glamourous)
Olives
Apple and peanut butter
Chai water (chia seeds in water for 30 mins for fiber)
Steak or chicken salad with homemade dressing (sometimes I ad halloumi and wow)
Canned tuna with veggies
Party plates (I load up whatever, minus crackers or chips - veg, meat, cheese, fruit, hummus, nuts…)
I hope this gave you a shred of inspo!
✨ Things I’m loving right now
Gifting season is coming and Marin candles are made in small batches, women founded and run. I think it really is so important to support small always. I also love ROAM candles, which also ticks all of my boxes!
I am obsessed with this dress bc it’s so easy to throw on, doesn’t wrinkle, is flattering, has pockets, and it’s in brown, which ICYMI, is the fall colour. I like the price, too! I also have these bowls from the collection.
I stepped up my PJ game and bought these satin PJ’s for the holidays… huge sale right now!
That’s it for this week. If you like this content, don’t forget to show up for me with a like or comment. Huge thank you to Jen, Ashley, Jackie and Jon for the comments on my last post.
xx, Erin

If there is ever a mom flow event in southern Ontario, I would totally go 😉
The mom flow event sounds like it is going to be such a fun night! Sad to have to miss it but hoping you host another one in the lower mainland next year.
