The first edition of Friday Five, where I’m sharing what I’m liking, wanting, thinking right now. Thanks for joining The Mom Flow - this space feels most like myself and where I am in life right now. Excited to get into it!
📺 Shows I'm watching and podcasts I’m listening to (and I think you should too!)
I have VERY little time these days to catch up on my shows (I’d say after Lola bedtime we have one hour to watch together), and this is what we’re into this week!
Beckham (Netflix) - long time Victoria Beckham fans, and loving the inside scoop this documentary gives. I’m living for those nostalgic 90’s Brit vibes! They absolutely need their own show!
The Super Models (Apple+) - the first Vogue (and maybe only!) I ever bought was because the Supers were on the cover and this documentary is just so so good. So interesting to hear how Naomi was painted and what Linda went through - very sad.
Phone A Friend by Jessi Cruickshank (Podcast) - recommended by a close friend, it’s rare I get a lot of podcast time in the car now that my daughter has learned she can play Fireman Sam on repeat (whyyyy did I give in lol) and this one is a lot of fun, full of pop culture and things this Millennial mom is kinda all about.
🔥 Lighting the good candles
This one is a simple reminder… I’m just so over watching my ‘fancy’ candles collect dust. Lighting the good candles actually makes our home feel so much more cozy in this fall season. I have always been a ‘let them sit’ girlie and we’re not about that anymore. I deserve to enjoy the good candles! My friend Mackenzie just launched the loveliest candles, and she makes each one by hand in her home studio. If you’re looking to support a small candle biz, she is your girl.
🍂 Fall shoes I bought to update my mom lewk
What I’m going to love about this platform is being very unfiltered, and that means showing you shoes without an outfit that works with them… and I think you’re ok with that! I’m not one for following too many trends BUT I do try to keep my wardrobe from looking too out dated which usually means updating seasonally with a few ‘trendy’ pieces. Loafers, Uggs (in stockkk!) and ballet flats, oh my. Let me tell you - my feet got wider and grew a full size after baby and I am not ok with it. It’s hardddd to find wider shoes, but ASOS has a wide fit section and if you ignore the duty that you sometimes have to pay with shipping to Canada, you’ll happily shop their huge, and mostly well-priced, selection.
📚 Quitting books before you finish them
I’m kinda known for starting a book and pretty my losing interest in favour of scrolling IG and TT but I think it’s time we normalize putting a book down if you’re not enjoying it. So many hyped books floating around lately (I blame IG and affiliate links *salty*) and Happy Place by Emily Henry was one of those. I just don’t know what to do with it now; it’s not like I can give it to a friend! “Hey, here is a book I didn’t enjoy or finish, happy reading!”. Time is too precious to read books you don’t like. One I loved recently is Verity by Colleen Hoover - what a page turner.
〰️ Taking the morning off
I don’t know if it’s been the heaviness of the world or just general exhaustion, but I really needed a big rest/sleep morning. Doing all the things at 100% go go go will catch up with you and I needed to press the pause button. I woke up on Thursday not feeling well (mentally and physically) and listened to my body’s signals. The permission of allowing rest can be tricky bc there is alwayssss 1000 things I could be doing, but I took a look at my calendar, which had no meetings until an influencer event later in the day, got up, took Lola to daycare and went back to sleep for the morning and felt so much better for it. Reminder that it’s ok to make space in your schedule to rest without self-judgement!
See you next week, flowers!

The smartest minds teach to put a book down if it's not providing value. Similarly, read a book that has provided a lot of value again.
You'd not watch a movie or a show till they end if you hated it so why do force yourself through a book?
