The ways I'm embracing spring
PLUS: 6 bigger ways and 5 micro ways to make spring your fave season
Happy Friday, flow-ers! Tap tap tap, is this thing on?! The online space has been quiet the last few weeks with spring break in full swing but I’m out here chugging along! Guys, Lola will be in kindy next year so I’ll be a spring break mom too, eeeee already excited (and booking camps!) now.
Prefer to listen? It’s like a podcast if you hit the play button at the top of this post. I read it to you with plenty of extra chit chat you didn’t ask for, but might like.
This winter has felt particularly hard for me. I don’t know why because it never has before - the news cycle, economy, the grey weather (Vancouver, love ya but you’re so damn moody!) and being in a new neighbourhood (living in a house is new for me, and I feel like I was more exposed to the elements than in a condo if that makes sense to anyone) has maybe effected me to feel this way. Right now, I feel a new sense of hope and excitement with the longer days!
We all know that spring cleaning is a thing for a reason, it feels so good to just purge, organize, all those good things so I’m looking for other ways to just embrace the season. These are 6 small spring things I am doing that you might feel scratches that itch for you, too! (and the 5 super small spring things that are so easy to incorporate!)
✨ Organize a drawer
I can feel like the most productive procrastinator ever if I organize a drawer. It’s will to live status and sits right next to getting a little treat - instant serotonin boost. I just installed a new little drawer in our kitchen and just organized it, and I’m done for the day. Goodnight, my work here is done!
🍷 Play host
Seriously, I adore hosting, and just had some gf’s over this week which I highly recommend. Making a little fuss is always nice, but actually the more simple the better… making it look like a fuss is the best way to do it. When people used to ask if they can bring anything, I would say no, but now I let them and it makes hosting even easier. I suggest snacky girl dinner vibes and not slaving over the stove, making sure it’s all perfectly timed, laying it on the coffee table, and letting the good times roll. Even on a Monday night!
✈️ Plan getaways
I looove something to look forward to, and ICYMI, us Canadians are staying in Canada as much as possible this year. We have so many fun little trips planned in the next few months, some just little overnight stays, but the change of scenery is so fun, and I think it’s a good idea to get away if you can. Girls trips, sister trips, couples trips. All about it.
🌸 Space refresh
I love a good space refresh! Especially when I’ve been putting it off - looking at something for months saying “I’ll get to it” and then finally doing it?! One of life’s joys. I just created a little den in our third bedroom which made our place feel more like home but also, could be as easy as finally hanging that piece of art or mirror that’s been nagging at you (I’m looking at myself here!)
🌿 Garden prep
Even having a tiny little area for plants and sprucing them up brings such a nice feeling into life! Now, I’m veryyyy far from a green thumb (we have exactly one tiny little plant on our kitchen window ledge that is Lola’s responsibility) but this spring/summer we are planting a garden because we have space for it. It’s actually Roberto’s project - he is super excited to bring out that Portuguese gene and ice me out of the process (so he thinks mwaha)
💪🏽 Health boost
No one wants to do this, but spring is such a good time for a health assessment. Just starting with bloodwork to get baselines and address anything you need to with supplements, meds, appts… no one is gonna push you to do this! I just did and got some alarming things back that I’m working through and I want to feel my best to really enjoy life and fire on all cylinders, esp. as I creep towards perimenopause. WTF.
Reminder that the chat is open! This is where we can meet each other and share info, recos, and just conversation (yes, commiserating is welcome!). So nice to see some of you over there!
New sunnies, who dis! Love my new Gen Z sunnies
Speaking of Gen Z, yaaaa, I’m all about these headbands that I used to wear in jr. high

Thank you so much for the tips! I just got back from a two week vacation and definitely feel like I need to purge some clothes and go through some drawers and this was definitely a motivator! 😊
I look forward to these!
I organized a drawer last week that I had been putting off, and it feels good every time I open it.
It’s a great range of topics, and a great read.
Thank you Erin!
